Our school vision
Jesus said 'I have come that you may have life in all its fullness' (John 10:10).
“Live life in all its fullness” (John 10:10)
Our school Motto: Learn to Love-Love to learn!
Our vision is based on Jesus’ two greatest commandments, love God and love one another. The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) guides our school family to extend love, compassion and respect to all God’s people.
He calls us to a full life in mind, body, heart and spirit.
We believe the purpose of education is to nurture and enable every child to thrive and to be the person they are fully capable of being.
Heartwood’s vision of growing curious minds with a thirst for knowledge influences the ethos of our school and the policies and practices within it.
We believe that spirituality is a core thread that runs through Heartwood and we attach great importance to it for both children’s holistic development and for the growth and well-being of all within our school community.
What is spirituality?
Heartwood’s working definition of ‘spirituality’
As a staff and governor team, we have agreed on a definition of spiritual development in our school community to support us as we talk about spirituality.
Spiritual development is the development of an awareness that there is “something more to life than meets the eye, something more than the material, something more than the obvious, something to wonder at, something to respond to.” (Terence Copley)
