School Council

At Heartwood, the school council consists of the Head Boy and Girl, the Deputy Head Boy and Girl, two members from each year group class who have been voted in, one member from Bumblebees. In the summer term, two members from Rabbits class (Reception) join the school council. The Head Boy and Head Girl gain the views of the children in Nursery and Reception classes throughout the year. The Deputy Head Boy and Girls support the school council members in Year 1.

At the beginning of each academic year, all children are given the 'job description' of being a member of the school council. Children in Years 1 to 5 can nominate themselves to be on the School Council. The nominees say at least one reason why they want to be on the school council, and then the class vote.

The school council meet regularly with a member of SLT throughout the year.
