Each year our school is granted funding to use towards the improvement of PE and Sport within our school. This year we have been given £17,247 and our main aims are;

  1. to improve the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity in order to kick start healthy and active lifestyles.
  2. to raise the profile of PE and Sport across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
  3. to increase the confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and Sport.
  4. to broaden all pupils' experience in a range of sports and activities.
  5. to increase participation of pupils in competitive sport.

A breakdown of how our Sports Premium Funding will be spent is here:

Every child a footballer...

Our aim at Heartwood is for every child to leave a school a footballer. We employ a football coach from ICS coaching who teaches the progressive knowledge and skills for football; this is our Heartwood Football Academy. Every child from Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 will have weekly sessions to develop their skills.

We are proud to have fully equipped and marked out football pitch, indoor 5 a side equipment and coaching resources.

All children will have an additional P.E session every week taught by their class teacher. This will cover all areas of the P.E curriculum. giving them the skills and knowledge.
